    How does it work?

Category L fire systems aim is to protect Life and gets broken down into 5 subcategories, each offering different levels of protection, with L1 being the highest level of protection and L4 being the bare minimum. L5 is slightly different to the other subcategories and is used when you have got to meet specialist requirements normally based on items found on an FRA (Fire Risk Assessment). Category M systems only require Manual Call Points, this type of system rellies on the people inside the building to discover the fire and activate the fire alarm. This can not be used in a property where people may be sleeping and is commonly used in workshop settings. Category P systems are also broken down into 2 subcategories, P1 systems covers the entire building whilst P2 systems covers more specific areas which may be more at risk to fires.
